The Kuhstall (Cowshed) rock gate is the second biggest natural rock gate in Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland. It is 11 m high, 17 m wide and 24 m deep. It acquired its name during the Thirty Years' War, when it provided a refuge for farmers and their cattle from the surrounding villages. The gate is a popular tourist destination, with wonderful views of the rocks of Affenstein, Kleiner Winterberg. Steps lead up from here to the top of the rock with the remains of the little castle of Wildenstein. There is also a historical self-service inn at the top.
