A heavily weathered and rugged massif, stretching along the right bank of the Elbe from Schmilka almost as far as Bad Schandau. The name comes from the character of the relief (schrammen, i.e. to scrape or scratch). There are trails with steep ladders and some exceptional viewpoints (Schrammsteinaussicht 417 m, Carolafelsen 453 m). A popular destination for hikers.
