Seigniorial Rock (Panská skála)

A national natural monument - the so-called Stone Organ. The Rock is located near the village of Prácheň not far away from the town of Kamenický Šenov. This geological formation consists of vertically-oriented pentagonal or hexagonal black basalt columns. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the columns were quarried from the rock and used as posts and pillars. After the quarrying activity was stopped, the pit became flooded with water. The small lake is now part of the monument. Since 1895, the Seigniorial Rock has been protected as a natural geological landmark and is the oldest protected geological formation in the Czech Republic. The Seigniorial Rock is well accessible both on foot or on bike.
