Chřibský hrádek rock castle
This castle is situated above the Doubice stream on the rocky promontory of Spravedlnost (Justice) hill by the road from Doubice to Dolní Chřibská.
Chřibský hrádek was founded by the Lords of Michalovice in the second half of the 13th century to protect the Lusatian Road. However, an unsubstantiated legend has it that the castle was founded by one Cherub Berka as a hunting lodge. It was probably the residence of the advocatus, who managed the territory he was assigned. The bottom part of a room carved out of the rock has been preserved. The other buildings were mostly made of wood. The castle was the ideal hiding place for stashing lavish booty and weapons looted from raids in Saxony and Lusatia. The castle was also called Pustý zámek (The Abandoned Castle) or Karlštejn. Chřibský hrádek suffered badly during the Hussite Wars, when it was attacked and badly damaged by fire. Some say that treasure lies hidden under the castle.
