Belvedér viewpoint

GPS souřadnice:
50°50'57.84"N
14°13'17.76"E

This viewing platform some 130 metres above the Elbe is the oldest man-made viewpoint in Bohemian Switzerland. It offers a beautiful view into the deep canyon of the River Elbe and the table mountains Zirkelstein and Kaiserkrone on the German border.

At the turn of the 18th century the owners of the nearby chateau in Bynovec built a sala terrena, with the coat-of-arms of the founders – the lords of Clary-Aldringen – still preserved today, and the viewing terrace was also altered. Popular music concerts were held on the terrace at that time. Since the 19th century the viewing terrace has been connected with the chateau in Bynovec by a 4 km carriage way, now the red-marked footpath.
