Janov Lookout Tower

The lookout tower was opened in December 2013. It is situated on a slight rise (Janovský hill) on the edge of the village of Janov, some 15 km north of Děčín, at a height above sea level of 320 metres. The lookout tower viewing platform is situated at a height of 30 metres and is reached by climbing 162 steps. At the top you will find, according to connoisseurs of the local landscape, a truly impressive view. You’ll see the peaks of the Lusatian Mountains and the rocks of the Labské pískovce with Pravčice Gate. The icing on the cake will be the sight of the table mountains of Saxon Switzerland. Don’t forget to take your binoculars... 

You can get here along the yellow trail from Hřensko, which continues on to the Kamnitz Gorge of the Kamenice river with a cruise on flat-bottomed boats.

From the lookout tower you have a wonderful view of Děčínský Sněžník, as well as Silver Walls and Pravčice Gate, not to mention the surrounding villages. You can also see as far as Růžovský vrch, part of the Lusatian Mountains and the table mountains in Saxony. The lookout tower at Janov near Hřensko also attracts tourists during the winter. You can visit it, as long as the temperature is not below minus 10 °C. You can park near Golf Janov, from where you can see the tower.Janov lookout tower
