An area of quiet beauty and mysterious gorges between Doubice, Krásná Lípa and Brtníky.
Route: Krásná Lípa – Kamenná Horka – Kyjov – Tourist Bridge – Brtníky
Description of route: Follow the yellow markers from Krásná Lípa through Kamenná Horka (well-kept semi-timbered houses) and on through the pasture land (with a view of the surrounding area) to Kyjov. Part of the route follows the Kögler educational trail. In Kyjov, set off from the Na Facultě restaurant along the red route through the Kyjov valley between the sandstone rocks along the little Křinice river. At the Pod praporkem crossroads it is worth taking a small diversion (there and back) to the Klenotnice rock formation. Then continue as far as the Tourist Bridge, and follow the green markers up out of the valley past Brtnický castle, Velký Pruský tábor and the former Šternberk hunting lodge to Brtníky. From there, get back to Krásná Lípa by bus, or by train at the weekends.
Length: 13 km
Duration: 4–5 hours (in summer)
Difficulty: hard in winter, easy for the rest of the year
Alternative route:
In Kyjov, instead of following the red markers, you can continue along the Kögler educational trail amongst the rocks past the Kinský viewpoint and Kyjov castle and join the red route at Pod Praporkem (by the turn-off to Klenotnice). Caution, one section is difficult – ladders and steep steps in the rocks!
In the winter there are signs to the icefalls in the Kyjov valley (the Fairy Cave and Wine Cellar); from the Tourist Bridge it is the circuit around the Brtnický icefalls.
